Stichting Wireless Leiden

Whenever you want to use the internet through the Wireless Leiden network, you have to define a proxy server in your browser. This is being experienced as unpleasant by many of our users, and for many of our mobile users this is not possible at all.

Wireless Leiden has therefore recently started the testing of a new configuration, under which it will be no longer necessary to define a proxy server while browsing the internet.

During the test period - in a separated part of our network - it will among other things be tested if the safety of out network will not suffer under internet access without a proxy server.

Under the new configuration, as now, only the http- and https- protocols will be supported.

Because thee new system will also be attractive to mobile users, the project has received the name iLeiden.
