At the Open Community Camp Rick gives a presentation about server tuning when building a scalable 'open street map' (OSM) application. This is based on FreeBSD, Django, MySQL, Apache, WSGI, MemCached. Using practical examples he demonstrates what to watch out for when designing web applications with huge amounts of data interaction.

Wireless Leiden organizes, shortly after the change of the year, a cocktail for everybody with a warm heart for our organisation.
This New Year's Cocktail will be held on Tuesday evening, January 4th, 2011 in Unit 8 of "Nieuwe Energie" (3e Binnenvestgracht 23, Leiden), from 20:00 uur on.
In order to give the event also some useful content, Frits Nolet (board member of stipv6) will give an introduction on the subject "Transition from IPv4 to IPv6" ("Overgang van IPv4 naar IPv6").
We hope to see many of our contacts and users!

Wireless Leiden contributes to the workshop ICT during the 'Senioren voor Leiden' meeting in the City Hall, organized by Stichting Radius. The meeting is targeting seniors that are interested in volunteer work. All citizens that will be 63 years old during 2010 have received an invitation for the meeting from the municipality. The meeting has a general part and thematic workshops.
